A 45 min adventure to teach kids about Neurodiversity, geared for 2nd – 4th grade. Learn about Steven, an autistic kid who feels left out. Kids go on a journey through the Land of Belonging to reach the Treasure of Inclusion that will help him out. They visit the Hills of Diversity, the Temple of the Mind and the Mountains of Norms, and along the way, learn that belonging is a fundamental human need and that one of the ways we can offer belonging to each other is to stay curious when our social interactions aren’t going the way we expect them to. I offered this presentation to individual classrooms at Richmond Elementary School. Students were very engaged, with one even telling me, “this is better than a field trip!”
